I thought this was a free offer. You have to pay shipping and handling to receive it. The e-mail I received concerning this offer says "put your wallet and credit card away-- like our website, this costs nothing whatsoever: http://onlinebibletalk.com/free-bible."... I was just curious to know if that was written by mistake.
I was wanting to comment to a post that was made concerning the free Bible. Man I think that would be great if it was really free. God's Word should be available to all without shipping and handling. The end time is vastly aproaching and there are those who are unable to afford the $4.95. I have many people who have recieved the same email concerning the free Bible and the "Put your wallet and credit card away -- like our website, this costs nothing whatsoever:" and once you click the link, realize $4.95 is due inorder to recieve it. Please, don't think I'm trying to offend you Jon Christian in any way, but I do feel you need to make some changes in the way you are presenting this. The email is written the same way the secular world conducts it's business. "BUY NOW AND GET THIS OTHER ITEM FOR FREE!" Then you read further and it says..."BUY NOW AND GET THIS OTHER ITEM FOR FREE....FOR ONLY $9.95!" To me thats not a free item. Again I'm not trying to offend you, but even in trying to do something good, you have to explore every avenue wisely to avoid any appearance of evil or wrong doing. There are a great cloud of witnesses taking note of what you do as well as the many here on earth who are "DEFINITELY" doing the same.
But the hard copy costs money to print and transport -- if you didn't pay shipping and handling, it would be free for you to receive, but not free for them to give!
Also, there is no 'buy now, get one free' or any other incentive at all -- basically you just order a bible at no cost, and pay $5 shipping and handling.
Anyway, I totally appreciate the overall sentiment of your post -- separate commercialism from religion. In that arena, we are in agreement!

You're correct
You're correct, you do have to pay for shipping and handling, although at $4.95, it's not as if they are making any money off of that.
I should have made sure that was mentioned that in the email. My apologies.

Oh! no problem. I just don't want people to be confused when they see the offer. Thanks for clarifying.

Free to who?
>Man I think that would be great if it was really free. God's Word should be available to all without shipping and handling.
I agree entirely with the sentiment, and that is why I have published the entire King James Bible on this site (start here: http://onlinebibletalk.com/genesis-chapter-1 )
But the hard copy costs money to print and transport -- if you didn't pay shipping and handling, it would be free for you to receive, but not free for them to give!

That's great if you live in Baltimore
I encourage all Baltimore residents to take advantage.
The thing is -- will they ship it to me in Montana for free (i.e. they pay the shipping)? Or to anyone who fills out a form online?
Probably not.
But I can always find God's word here for free!
Thanks for commenting. God bless,
